The upcoming second season of "Outlander" on Starz is set to air next year, and someone very royal is coming: King Louis XV.
French actor Lionel Lingelser has been cast as none other than the King of France and is out to give Claire and Jamie a bit of a challenge next season the moment they set foot in France, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. The character of King XV on "Outlander" is expected to be a charismatic ladies' man who's capable of getting any woman he wants -- and disposing of them at the moment he loses interest. It is reportedly not clear yet though if he's out to hurt or help the main protagonists of the show.
Actor Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, initially teased new cast members on his tweet early Tuesday morning, just hours before the casting was officially revealed by Starz.
Lingelser is known for his work in French productions like Bernard Au Hasard, Aristides de Sousa Mendes: A Rebel, and Big House.
In an interview between the show's producer and screenwriter Ronald D. Moore and Deadline, Moore mentioned that there will be a lot more "twists and turns" that aren't necessarily derived from Diana Gabaldon's series of the same title. He said, "The second book is more complex than the first book is. It's a little tougher challenge to adapt it. It takes place in France and it deals with the Jacobite Rebellion. It's much more political, it weaves in and out of actual historical events. There's more complexity, just in terms of how Diana structured the story in Paris, in particular, as Jamie and Claire try to change history."
Season 2 of "Outlander" is set to air next year and is currently filming in Scotland.
