Katy Perry Net Worth: 'Fireworks' Singer To Go To Court on Thursday for Convent Issue

The convent issue between Dana Hollister with the nuns and Katy Perry with Archbishop Jose Gomez will be heard in court on July 30, as cited in an article from Curbed.

The article added that Dana Hollister has been hanging out at the convent and has a plan to turn the property into a boutique hotel, but unlike Katy Perry, who wants to live on the estate with her mother and grandmother.

Sister Catherine Rose Holzman wrote to an official of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on May 22, as reported from The New York Times. She said, "In selling to Katy Perry, we feel we are being forced to violate our canonical vows to the Catholic Church."

However, the article mentioned that Judge Robert H. O'Brien is now being asked to decide whether the archdiocese relied on canon law that controls the nuns' temporal affairs without meeting the demands of civil law. In addition, The Vatican decreed that no sister or group of sisters should be involved in the governance of their nonprofit.

In contrast, Daily Mail reported that the sisters bought the convent decades ago, which is why they claim that they have the rights to sell the convent. The article added that one of the reason on why the nuns do not want Katy Perry to get the convent because they do not feel comfortable offering the property.

Although the "I Kissed a Girl" singer met the nuns, dressed conservatively, sang "Oh Happy Day," and showed her Jesus' tattoo on her wrist area, the nuns are still not convinced, as the article added. Sister Rita, one of the nuns, said, "Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and ... if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it."

In a previous article from Realty Today, the "Roar" singer has a plan to purchase the former convent Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary which is located in the hills of Los Feliz, Los Angeles. The article added that the convent was owned by the nuns and sold it to a restaurateur named Dana Hollister with a price of $15.5 million.

In addition, the article mentioned that Archbishop Jose Gomez, Los Angeles Archdiocese disagrees with the decision of the nuns and wants Katy Perry to get the convent.

In the meantime, Katy Perry has a net worth of $200 million, as reported from Celebrity Net Worth.
