A hacker only identified with a name "ThreatKing" took down New York Magazine website for 8 hours.
According to the report, the New York Magazine published a cover on Monday featuring the accusers of Bill Cosby, regarding the trending sexual abuse issue. However, shortly after the cover has been uploaded and posted, a hacker took it off the grid, making it impossible for online viewer to see.
On the statement of the hacker himself, he clearly pointed out that the removal of the cover does not mean a sympathy or involvement to the sexual abuse issue concerning Cosby and 35 women being featured in the supposed removed magazine cover. But instead his action according to him is just a manifestation for his hatred of the Big Apple. Such dislike can surely be observed on his statement as he told the website Daily Dot via a Skype that;
"Many stupid people at [sic] New York, I have not even seen the cover, LOL."
According to the same website, ThreatKing's hatred for New York originated from a not so good experience during his visit. As to his story he said;
"I went to new York 2 months ago. It was really bad...Someone pranked me. Everyone started laughing and shit. The first 10 hours being there. Some African-American tried to prank me with a fake hand gun... [wants] to see people die at [sic] New York. I've seen many pranks gone wrong at new york. That got me pissed. That's why I chose New York."
Though he did not reveal his identity or even nationality in fear of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the hacker hinted more coming attacks on websites based in New York. On a link posted on twitter, he identified New York Times, the New York City FBI bureau, and New York University as possible targets of the succeeding attacks.
