‘Splatoon’ Release Date & Gameplay: Game Gets New Weapons And Gear

Team-based shooter "Splatoon" will be getting its first major update. Nintendo has released specific details about the said update, which will reportedly feature new types of weapons, over 40 pieces of new gear, a leather jacket, two new matchmaking modes, a sushi chef and an increase in the game's level cap. Nintendo claims that the said update is expected to arrive on August 5, Gamespot reported on Monday.

According to a related report from International Business Times, in the Squad Battle, players will be allowed to join a team of between two to four players in ranked battles. Players can also participate in Ranked Battle rule sets with other players as opposed to the usual team-up with other players via a random selection.

"After a player creates a squad, friends can be recruited to form a team of two to four inklings. Friends will always play together on the same team and battle against other squads at random," reads a game description as quoted in the Gamespot website.

While in the Private Battle, players can choose a specific map, a mode and various weapons from the video game. Aside from this, players will be allowed to engage in battle through invite-only customizable matches with two to eight players.

However, teams are not necessarily required to be even, which could mean that the odds will be stacked against a specific player unless the host allowed such instances. Also, in the video game, the level cap will be increased from 20 to 50 and is likely to introduce the S and S+ awards in the Ranked Battles, according to Gamespot.

Nintendo's update for the "Splatoon" video game will also introduce two new weapons: the "Sloshers" and "Splatlings." Using the bucket-like Slosher weapon will reportedly hurl ink and splat the opponents straight ahead at an impressive range. Meanwhile, the Gatling-style Splatling can unleash a maximum charge of powerful ink against the opponents, according to International Business Times,
