During her conversation with reporters at the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour last Tuesday, Chelsea Handler talked about her upcoming Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, and an untitled talk show. However, she remained unapologetic about the negative tone she gave regarding her former network.
Chelsea states, "I was just talking honestly about how I felt, which I've always been prone to do and I will always do." She also says, "That's the good thing about me. I'm always telling the truth."
Chelsea shares that she is enjoying her break from the pop culture industry that she has been known to work for. Her Netflix project won't be launching until 2016. Chelsea seems to be a firm believer of taking breaks, saying, "If you want to exist in this business, and I do, the healthiest thing to do is take a break from it, you get out of that headspace, and then you can come back to it with a different perspective."
As far as her Netflix shows are concerned, Chelsea says that she has a lot to learn. Technology doesn't seem to be her best friend. She says she doesn't even know how to use some of the things she has at home. As for her new documentary, she says they would be covering marriage, drugs, racism, and Silicon Valley. She shares that she felt vulnerable talking about the marriage part. But she also says that she used to not think about getting married. But as of now, she became more open to it. When asked about why she shifted from talk shows to docus, Chelsea says that she had to get her brain working again. She shares that her new show will not air on a nightly basis, but it will air a few times a week. Chelsea adds, "I'll be in your face. Don't worry."
