"Orange is the New Black" star Natasha Lyonne has opened up about her character Nicky Nichols and the latter's disappearance from the hit Netflix series.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lyonne said that her disappearance in Season 3 was very much necessary for her possible return in Season 4. In the previous season, Nicky was shipped off to Maximum Security after Luschek (Matt Peters) threw him under the bus for drug use and selling.
"I was excited to read it. I would actually argue that there were huge stakes for Nicky Nichols this season much more than any previous season. It makes sense that a self-destructive person would end up where she did," she did.
When asked whether or not her character will be back next season, Lyonne said that it's something she cannot talk about. However, the publication noted that the fact that the actress was present at the Television Critics Associations summer press tour could already confirm that she will be back.
Meanwhile, Lyonne also expressed her excitement over how Nicky's life could be transformed now that she's in Maximum Security.
"It could really go both ways. People respond to all kinds of ways to intense situations beyond rules. That kind of discipline sometimes brings out the best in people and sometimes brings out that much more anger and rebellion," she said.
In other news, "Orange is the New Black" star Ruby Rose recently revealed how starstruck she was at the first sight of her co-star Laura Prepon. In the series, Rose plays the role of Stella, and her character has worked closely with Prepon's Alex and Taylor Schilling's Piper.
During her interview with Wral, Rose said, "The only one I went like, 'Oh, what's going on?' was with Laura Prepon. She had the prison outfit, the glasses, the brows and the hair. She was Alex walking down the corridor. I just went, 'Hi! You're really good-looking.' She's just so tall and statuesque."
"Orange is the New Black" Season 4 will premiere on Netflix in June 2016.
