MTV recently announced at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that the new series "Scream" was renewed for Season 2.
According to Coming Soon, MTV's Mina Lefevre shared the cast and crew's excitement that the show will return for a second season. The people behind the show reportedly promise fans that can look forward to more suspense, horror and twists in Season 2.
The show is about the terror revolving around a high school after students are killed following a cyber-bullying incident. So far, the characters that are still alive are Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) who is a shy yet popular girl in school, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) who is an artsy loner, Noah (John Karna) the computer geek, Brooke (Carlson Young) who is a fierce socialite, Kieran (Amadeus Serafini), the mysterious new student, and Will (Connor Weil) who is the popular athlete.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of "Scream" is titled "Betrayed." Latin Post reported that so far, the details of the next episode are still vague. It was already revealed that the suspect of the recent killings is very close to Emma.
In the previous episode, Emma was in an emotional turmoil after discovering that her first sexual encounter was caught on video and was later leaked for public viewing. She felt embarrassed and betrayed and she suspects that the people who did it were the ones who are close to her.
MTV's adaptation of the popular hit movie franchise debuted earlier this month with 1.03 million viewers between 18 and 49. Fans are reportedly still waiting how the show's storyline will connect to Woodsboro. In the season finale, fans will have to wait for the identity of the killer to be revealed.
The next episode of "Scream" titled "Betrayed" will air on Tuesday, August 4, on MTV.
