An accidental leakage of the 2016 Ford Focus RS was revealed by Car Buying news online. They first discovered that the new Ford hot hatch was listed on a configurator website with a starting price of $35,730, while a fully loaded car will set a price of $42,275.
According to a report by Jalopnik news, Ford Focus RS is the latest unveiling in a new era of Ford performance. The 2016 Ford Focus RS delivers a 320 horsepower all-wheel drive monster hatch.
The Focus ST is a specially engineered 2.0-liter turbo 4 engine that has levels of power and torque that translate into impressive acceleration 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. While the Focus RS is projected to produce well in excess of 320 horsepower and 'at least' 320 pound-feet of torque.
The custom unit shares its fundamental structure with a 2.3-liter 4 engine in the all-new Mustang Ecoboost, but has been significantly upgraded through a comprehensive package of design changes.
Meticulous calibration work ensures that the power is linked to a six speed MANUAL gearbox. The latest RS offers an all-wheel drive. Its RevoKnuckle suspension makes the last RS free from crippling torque steer, but the new one will go full rally-grade with proper four-wheel power, as reported by Jalopnik.
A maximum of 70 percent of the drive torque can be diverted to the rear axle. Up to 100 percent of available torque at the rear axle can be sent to each rear wheel.
This all-new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive system is paired with a revised and upgraded suspension with stiffer springs, sway bars, and adjustable dampers.
In Europe, Ford engineers worked closely with Michelin to develop a choice of high-performance Pilot Super Sport tires that will complement the driving dynamics of the Focus RS, an optional Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire for enhanced vehicle dynamics on the track.
The vehicle's exterior design has also been developed to get more aggressive than the ST with a big wing, unique wheels, and unique front fascia that kind of looks like a mask.
The Ford Focus RS will be on the Geneva Auto Show and will debut on March 2016. Mark Fields, Ford's CEO, also said that the car will be making its way to America.
