Tyler Perry, a close family friend of the late Whitney Houston, finally broke his silence after the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. On Tuesday, July 28, the actor and filmmaker revealed he has "no words" to describe the tragic event.
The past week has been an awful time for relatives and friends of the Houston-Brown clan. Following the death of Houston and Bobby Brown's only daughter on Sunday, July 26, Perry shared a heartbreaking message on social media, reports People. On Tuesday, the 45-year-old actor tweeted: "I'm a writer with no words.... Bobbi Kris."
Before his briefly-expressed grief on Twitter, Perry wrote a lengthy open letter to public, reports E! Online. "It was only about two years ago, when the gospel songwriter created an entry on Facebook, asking for some privacy and respect for both the Houston and Brown families. This morning I woke up with Whitney on my mind. I couldn't help but think about all that she must have dreamed for her child. I know this was not her dream...and as difficult as this time is for the people that love both Whitney and Krissi, what makes it more egregious is the blatant disrespect, lies, and ignorance that are rapidly printed in this awful time," he wrote.
Perry continued, "For some reason, it has become human nature in our society to look for, seek out, and celebrate darkness, glory in tragedy, and enjoy reading and reporting it. It makes me sad to know that everybody wants to be the first to report something awful. So much so, that they find it OK to speak death onto those who are still alive."
More celebrity relatives have expressed their support and mourned with Brown's family, Us Weekly reported. Dionne Warwick, cousin of Brown's late mother, said in a "Watch What Happens Live" show, "She will be missed, that's for sure. She was a good girl. She was a good little girl. She really was." Professing their family's faith, the 74-year-old singer said, "I think it's because of our faith and strength in faith, knowing that Bobbi is now with a much, much bigger and more powerful person, or thing...than we'll ever know. She's in much better hands now."
Brown's funeral is scheduled on Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m. at the St. James United Methodist Church in Georgia. A burial will follow on Monday in New Jersey.
