In the new trailer for the upcoming movie "Black Mass," viewers will see Johnny Depp in his new terrifying character. According to Variety, the trailer is different from the previously released one, as the new clip shows who overpowers Joel Edgerton's and Benedict Cumberbatch's characters.

In "Black Mass" Johnny Depp will portray Whitey Bulger who is the main character of the movie. It is based on a book with the same title that was written by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth. According to Indie Wire, "Black Mass" is a film that was based on the true story of one of Boston's gangsters James "Whitey" Bulger, who later became an FBI informant in order to eliminate his competition from the 1970s to the early 1990s.

In the film, viewers can watch an unrecognizable Depp as he transforms from being a small-time crook to controlling the entire city's criminal underworld. Coming Soon reported that the film was directed by Scott Cooper and stars Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, W. Earl Brown, David Harbour, Dakota Johnson, Julianne Nicholson, Corey Stoll, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Scott, and Juno Temple.

The film is set in the 1970s as South Boston FBI Agent FBI Agent John Connolly (Edgerton) tries to convince the Irish mobster Whitey to help the FBI to eliminate their common enemy, which is the Italian mob. The unlikely alliance turns out to cause more problems and allow Whitey to evade law enforcement and become one of the most ruthless gangsters to be known in Boston history.

Cooper, who also directed "Crazy Heart," said that Whitey Bulger was charming but he could also be ruthless. He added that a lot fo people in the set know Whitey Bulger personally and it gave them the chills watching the resemblance of Depp with the character.

"Black Mass" will hit the theaters on September 18.
