Volkswagen's new lineup now offers high-tech safety features. The great news is these cars will come in affordable prices.
According to a feature article by cars.com, the 2016 Volkswagen model year includes driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automated parking, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning -- to many different vehicles and trim levels.
Dynamic cruise control is one of the opulent car options. New technologies include forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, lane departure warning, and park distance control.
These features will be standard on the CC V6 4Motion Executive and Touareg Executive trims. However, these features will be optional on the Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, Golf SportWagen, Jetta TSI/TDI, and Touareg Lux or Sport with Tech, cars.com added.
The 2016 Beetle Convertible and Jetta models features post-collision braking as well. This technology uses information from airbag sensors to prevent secondary collisions.
The Touareg SUV has a starting price of $46,000 with destination charge. These new features will now also be offered on the Beetle, CC, e-Golf, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, Golf SportWagen and Jetta, which starts within the $17,000 to $37,000 price range, with destination.
Meanwhile, in another report by cars.com, it was revealed that backup cameras will now be standard on today's newest cars. Not only does Volkswagen have these advanced features, Subaru is following suit as well.
As a matter of fact, Subaru is now offering on five of its models a suite of active safety features called 'EyeSight.'
This new technology uses two cameras mounted near the rearview mirror to monitor the cars ahead of the driver. To avoid crashing, the 'EyeSight' functions to detect pedestrians in the car's path as well as automatically engages the brakes, as reported by cars.com.
Subaru's 2015 Subaru Impreza model will be having an as-tested price of $26,885, including a destination fee. 'EyeSight,' in this case, is part of a $2,795 option package.
