‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Gameplay: New ‘Blast’ Multiplayer Mode Unveiled

On Thursday, game developer DICE has announced a new multiplayer mode for its video game "Star Wars: Battlefront." The video game's new mode is called Blast and will give players an option to do close-quarters encounters instead of the usual featured large-scale battles, a report from Gamespot said.

According to Gamespot, considering Blast is a close-quarters mode, players will no longer need to use large-scale maps which can be found in the video game's other modes, like the massive-scale, 40-player Walker assault mode. The report made it clear that the Blast multiplayer mode is not a "trimmed-down version" of the other gameplay modes.

"Blast offers a lot of variety both in terms of gameplay and the unpredictable nature of the opposing team. Actual levels within the mode also happen to hold great variation as well. To keep the action dense in this close-quarters mode, the Blast maps are not as vast as in other game modes. Players should know that they are all specifically designed for the specific game mode in mind; in other words, these aren't just smaller versions of maps used elsewhere," reads a post in the game's Battle Front Website.

Gamespot cited the planets where players will fight, which are: Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and Sullust. The report said that in Blast mode there will be no vehicles, hero, or villains, and weapons will be scattered all throughout the vicinity of the map. The video game has also several multiplayer game modes namely: Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone and Cargo.

"Say you've just played Walker Assault mode on Hoth and then switched to Blast, still on Hoth--thanks to variations in lighting and time of day, you'll definitely see a difference," lead level designer Dennis Brännvall said as quoted in the same website.

According to a report from IGN, Blast pits players against each other in a 10 versus 10 team death match face-off between the Imperial and Rebel forces. In this death match mode, the winning team must be able to either score 100 kills or be in the lead by the end of the 10-minute round.

The "Star Wars: Battlefront" will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC gaming platforms on November 17, 2015.
