‘One Direction’ Manager Simon Cowell Shares Support for Zayn Malik's Solo Career

Simon Cowell proved there's no bad blood between him and former "One Direction" band member Zayn Malik. Cowell sent a message on Twitter to congratulate Malik on his new solo record deal with RCA Records.

The music mogul took to Twitter on Thursday, reports Mirror, to show his support for the 22 year old star. Cowell wrote, "We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords. I believe they are the perfect label for @ZaynMalik's solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special."

Cowell's Twitter message discounts previous rumors that Malik was dropped from the music and television producer's Syco label. A source told The Sun a few weeks back, that Cowell "set up a deal that suits Zayn and One Direction." The source mentioned that Malik will stay in the Sony family under a different record label and the move had Cowell's blessing. "It was just felt to be a bit difficult to have 1D and Zayn on the same label - and everyone felt it was better for him to be somewhere different. Since leaving the band, Zayn has changed management and lawyers so it would kind of make sense for him to work with a new label team," the source added.

Meanwhile, the former "One Direction" band member had back-to-back contract signings this week, joining Turn First Artists management and RCA Records, reports Billboard. This marked Malik's first step in launching his solo career after leaving "One Director" earlier this year. The singer joins the growing roster of Turn First Artists' which includes Iggy Azalea and Ellie Goulding. Meanwhile, Malik's record deal with RCA Records "makes perfect sense" states Billboard, given the label's impressive track record of boosting the popularity of several artists in the industry, such as Miley Cyrus, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Sia and many more.

Malik is reportedly excited with his new record deal and is set to release a new album soon.
