Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May teamed up again for a new motor show for Amazon's TV arm. It also rumored that the trio's new show will compete with their old show, Top Gear, which BBC gave a new makeover. The trio's new show is known to be a £160 million deal for a course of more than three years. Though Clarkson is banned to do any car show with any other UK show until 2017, their new program will push through for Amazon is a U.S- owned internet brand.
The trio's new program will also be produced by their long- time executive producer in Top Gear, Andy Wilman, who is also Clarkson's school mate. Viewers need to subscribe to Amazon's £79-a-year Prime service for them to watch the trio's program. Amazon also remained their mouth shut regarding how much they will pay the trio but it is rumored that Amazon is investing over £20 million for the program.
Despite of the great anticipation of the trio's come back, a group of Top Gear fans expressed their disappointment of having to pay another £80 just to see the trio. They'll just "stick with Top Gear reruns, Thanks!" Another fan said "I love Top Gear but not enough to pay Amazon £80 for it."
Clarkson was known to be kicked out by BBC when he hit his producer Oisin Tymmon. Clarkson's absence made Hammond, May and Wilan to follow him and quit from BBC. The trio were rumored to be going to ITV but part of Clarkson's contract prevented him from doing motor shows with other UK- based network until 2017. Amazon's vice president for Amazon Prime Video in Europe said that "our approach is to give programme makers creative freedom to be innovative and make the shows they want to make."
