"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zach Snyder recently explained the connection between the upcoming film with several others, including "Suicide Squad" and "Aquaman." In an interview with Empire Magazine, Snyder explained that all of the films will become one giant story, which means that each one is connected with the other.
"What we are doing is a ground up all the way. It is one giant story. The first thing we had was the 'Justice League' concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our 'Wonder Woman,' our 'Aquaman.' They have their own creative concepts that support them, but they do serve 'Justice League' in the coming together of those heroes," he said.
Snyder added that he wants all of the directors of each of the films to work together in creating an interconnected universe. He added that this does not mean they cannot give their own creative input on their respective movies, but they have to take into account as well the entire 'Justice League' franchise, according to Design & Trend.
Film producer Charles Roven called the process a "sandbox." "It has borders around it but everybody gets to play in the sandbox. On 'Suicide Squad,' David Ayer has a lot of specific control over his area of the sandbox. Even if he crosses the line a little bit, we see if we can push our boundaries back a little bit," he said.
Meanwhile, Snyder also talked about Jason Mamoa's Aquaman and said that audiences will understand why the character will be given his standalone film in the next few years.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016. The film stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and more.
