50 Cent Sex Tape Case: Jury Adds $2 Million in Punitive Damages

Curtis Jackson, better known as the actor-rapper 50 Cent, has been on court for a couple of years facing charges regarding punitive damages when he allegedly posted online narrating a sex tape, with a 13 minute run time. It's a sex tape involving Lastonia Leviston and her boyfriend which costs Jackson a $5 million fine due to invasion of privacy.

Just weeks after the jury's verdict, Jackson then filed bankruptcy protection in the state of Connecticut. Leviston's lawyer then was able to urge the jurors to award her $15 million, in which Jackson's lawyer asked them to order if he could just be fined $700,000 instead. His lawyer then made a statement saying that Jackson was disappointed with the verdict in which he later on made a plea with the court's jury to reduce the award which was reported in NBC News.

After going through the spotlight regarding his lawsuit Curtis Jackson III finally broke his silence and decided to speak out after being interviewed by E! News in which he stated:

"I'm taking the precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation, you know when you're successful and stuff, you become a target. I don't wanna be a bull's-eye. I don't want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that."

"Walt Disney has filed bankruptcy. Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy, It means you're reorganizing your finances, but it does stop things from moving forward that you don't want moving forward."

His attorney, Mr. William A. Brewer then released a statement saying:

"This filing for personal bankruptcy protection permits Mr. Jackson to continue his involvement with various business interests and continue his work as an entertainer, while he pursues an orderly reorganization of his financial affairs."
