Now that Nina Dobrev's character Elena is gone, there are going to be major changes in "The Vampire Diaries," most especially between the Salvatore brothers. After playing as Elena Gilbert for the past six years, Dobrev decided to leave the show. Elena was the wedge that created the major drift between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) Salvatore in the show.
Now that Elena is in a 70-year coma, Master Herald revealed that in Season 7, the brothers will put the past behind them and start their relationship anew. In the last San Diego Comic-Con panel, Wesley confirmed that the relationship between the Salvatore brothers will be one of the main focuses of the upcoming season. He added that fans will surely love the bond between the brothers, and the dynamic relationship between the two reportedly will make the show more interesting.
The brothers started out as enemies when they fought for the love of one girl, but despite their differences, they have so much history together, as Wesley revealed. Wesley also directed an episode for Season 6 and he definitely agrees in using flashback stories to establish a rich history between Damon and Stefan.
International Business Times also reported that Damon and Stefan will be adjusting to a new life in Mystic Falls as Damon tries to move on with his life without Elena while Stefan tries to win the heart of Caroline (Candice Accola). However, the presence of their mother Lily Salvatore (Annie Wersching) might bring more trouble between the brothers.
In the Season 6 finale, Lily was seen reuniting with her travel companions who are the heretics, and this will cause friction with her relationship with her sons. Fans will see Lily taking over the Salvatore mansion as she tries to exile her son Damon from Mystic Falls.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will premiere on Thursday, October 8, at 8 p.m.
