Northern Ireland's 300-mile barrier of ice is currently being looked upon to be considered as a tourist destination over the years to come. Known as "The Wall", which is around 700 feet tall and made of solid ice is looked over by the voluntary military order, the Night's Watch. It is a 300-mile outstretched barrier along the northern border on "The Seven Kingdoms" which defends them from the realm of wildlings which lived beyond.
IBT then reported "The Wall" did help out in boosting Northern Ireland's tourism, having tourists and locals drop by every now and then. This epic wall "Hardhome" was prominently seen in season 5, which was filmed in Northern Ireland giving the local officials an idea into turning it into a tourist attraction.
Sammy Wilson, North Ireland's legislator then told Belfast Telegraph that "It is a magnificent site and it would be a massive tourist attraction. The number of buses and people who stop to try and get views of it." He then dished out some insights regarding the country's plain into turning the prestige wall into a tourist attraction.
As per Belfast Telegraph, Northern Ireland's Councillors are trying to reach out to HBO asking them if they could still have the set intact after filming.
Mr. Wilson then said that they would further develop "The Wall" after the series. He then stated: "To have the set there as well would be the icing on the cake,"
Now that plans on preserving "The Wall" have been established, other "Game of Thrones" locations that are being shot on Northern Island is being looked upon as well as season 6 is currently being filmed and is on its way into the HBO series within next year. Though filming the series is already half way, the question on Jon Snow's return is yet to be answered.
