'The Final Girls' 2015 Movie: 'American Horror Storry' & 'The Vampire Diaries' Alum Star In New Horror Film

Taissa Farmiga from "American Horror Story" and Nina Dobrev from "The Vampire Diaries" is set to star in "The Final Girls." According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie pays homage to the famous slasher film during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Farmiga plays the role of Max who is a high school senior and a daughter of an actress, to be played by Malin Akerman.

"The Final Girls" is a comedy horror film directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson who is known for his work on the movie "A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas." Max will be trapped with her friends in the movie that made her mother the "scream queen" of the 1980s.

According to Cinemablend's detailed report, the story picks up about three years after Max's mother died. Max's mother is a famous actress who is known for her 1980s horror movie titled "Camp Bloodbath."

Even though she is still struggling to move on from the death of her mom, Max still found herself in the special screening of her mom's film that was organized by her best friend's stepbrother played by "Silicon Valley" star, Thomas Middleditch. When the cinema is caught by fire, Max, along with her best friend played by Alia Shawkat, the boy she likes, played by Alexander Ludwig, and his bitchy ex-girlfriend, played by Nina Dobrev, tries to escape the venue.

However, as they slashed through the silver screen, they found themselves inside the movie itself. Now the group tries to evade the psychotic killer along with camp counselors, one of which is being played by Adam DeVine.

Based on Cinemablend's review, the movie may lack gore and blood but it reportedly offers a ridiculously fun plot which will surely appeal to all genre fans. "The Final Girls" will be premiering in limited theaters on VOD platforms on October 9.
