'How to Get Away With Murder' Season 2 Premiere & Cast News: 'X-Men' Alum Famke Janssen Cast For Multi-Episode Arc, Kendrick Sampson To Be Back In Recurring Role

Before the premiere of Season 2 of "How to Get Away with Murder," it was revealed that the show will be featuring new faces and characters.

Vine Report revealed that "The Vampire Diaries" alum Kendrick Sampson has been confirmed to join the cast in a recurring role. It was speculated that Sampson's character will be substantial in the plot of the upcoming season.

It was earlier reported that the killer of Rebecca (Katie Findlay) will be revealed during the premiere episode of season 2. She was last seen in the basement of Annalise Keating's house, and Annalise, played by Emmy-nominated actress Viola Davis, vowed that she had nothing to do with the murder of the student.

When Davis appeared on the show "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on the night of the Season 1 finale, she revealed that they shot an alternate ending where Annalise found Rebecca dead while she was still tied to the chair. This revelation sparked rumors that it may be true that Annalise did not kill Rebecca and it was possible that one of her students and Rebecca's boyfriend, Wes, (Alfred Enoch) killed Rebecca out of his anger with her.

Aside from Sampson, a new character might stir things up in the upcoming season of the show. The Hollywood Reported revealed that "X-Men" alum and "Taken" star Famke Janssen will join the cast for Season 2.

Both executive producers and showrunners Shonda Rhimes and Pete Nowalk revealed that the actress will be appearing for a multi-episode arc, but they chose to keep mum about the role she is going to play. Norwalk added in his earlier interview that the new characters to be introduced in the upcoming season will play vital roles in Annalise's life.Speculations state that Janssen might play a revered defense attorney who takes her job seriously.

"How to Get Away with Murder" Season 2 is set to air on ABC on September 24.
