OnePlus 2 Review & Specs: Handset Has Impressive Fingerprint Sensor, Metal Chassis Build

An initial review of the Chinese startup company's second flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, is out already as selected users have been luckily invited to a preview of the said device. OnePlus 2 has been lauded because of its classy and innovative scheme, which features a solid metal chassis build and sleek and curve design, a report from Tech Times said on Monday.

"First impressions matter, and the OnePlus 2 shakes your hand with authority. The metal chassis is cool to the touch, and the textured rear panel grippy and reassuring. It's no larger than the G4, but matches it for in-hand comfort, despite not sharing the subtle curve of LG's flagship," reads a review by Digital Trends as quoted in the Tech Times website.

A similar review from PC Advisor said: "The OnePlus 2 is a great phone for its price tag, there's no doubt about that. The spec is impressive, but we wouldn't go as far as to call it the 2016 flagship killer, as OnePlus is referring to it as. With that being said, we think it'll be hugely popular with consumers with its premium look and feel when its launched in a few weeks' time."

Tech Times noted that the company claims OnePlus 2's fingerprint sensor technology is faster compared to Apple's Touch ID. The smartphone also features a full HD resolution, considering that the other flagship smartphones have upgraded to a Quad HD display resolution.

Inside the device is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor alongside an Adreno 430 with a 3 or 4 GB random access memory (RAM). Users can choose between two models: a 16 GB model with 3 GB of RAM or the 64 GB version with a 4 GB memory capacity.

Android Pit said that OnePlus 2 is slated to be released on August 11 and is expected to have a 64 GB model for both U.S. and UK, respectively. The phone is priced at $389 for the 64 GB version while phone's 16 GB model will be sold for $329. A OnePlus 2 invite scheme is being implemented by the company for those who bought the smartphone ahead of its official launch this August.
