Former child star and television personality on the reality-television series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kimberly "Kim" Richards was said to have been arrested last Sunday, August 2, for allegedly shoplifting.
The said petty theft crime was perpetuated by the 50 year old TV personality at a Target store in San Fernando Valley California. According to Us Weekly, the Los Angeles City Attorney said that she is being accused of stealing more than 100 items, which amounted to about $612.
As a result of the said event, Richards was placed under custody and spent Sunday night in jail. She was just released Monday after posting bail amounting to $5,000. But still Richards would be facing a possible misdemeanor prosecution when the case will be submitted to the Los Angeles City Attorney. And as for the schedule of her first court date, report says that August 20 was the tentative scheduled date.
With all these accusations her former husband comes to her defense. The ex-husband of Richards, Monty Brinson, does not buy the allegation of her ex-wife doing such things. On his statement posted on nydailynews, Brinson stated that;
"I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver, I am in complete shock...Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol or drug related."
This was not the first time that the said actress was involved with some legal problems. For it can be remembered that back in April this year, Richards was also arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel for it was said that she was acting violently and allegedly kicking an officer in a drunken rage. As a result she was charged with public intoxication, battery, and resisting arrest. But she then pleaded not guilty to the said legal charges.
