On Sunday, Kim Richards had been arrested for shoplifting $600 worth of items at Target. She spent a night at Van Nuys Police Department in California Valley and was released the following day through a $5,000 bail.
According to police documents, the 50-year-old shoplifted three carts of toys amounting to nearly 100 items. The shoplifting incident comes after her apprehension at a Beverly Hills hotel for drunken rampage, trespassing, beating a police authority and resisting arrest in April. Richards could also face up to two and a half years' jail sentence if proven guilty.
In light of the news, Richards' former husband Monty Brinson defended the reality star. "I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver," her ex-husband Brinson said. He insisted the arrest was some kind of a "mistake" and it was not "alcohol or drug-related."
Meanwhile, according to multiple reports, the TV reality star and former child star has been homeless and has been bouncing back and forth to live with her sister Kathy Hilton and some of her friends. There were also reports that she's been staying out in her car prior to her latest arrest, according to Huffington Post. She left her things in storage and is reportedly finding it hard now to find a place to live.
After her April arrest, Richards went to rehab for the fourth time to deal with her addiction. A source revealed that Richards, who appeared in "Nanny and the Professor," has "mismanaged her money," according to INQUISTR. Although she had a good career, she reportedly wasted all her earnings. "She's wrecking her life," the insider added.
Richards' struggle with sobriety was seen by the whole cast of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." The "Escape to Witch Mountain" actress had been continuously feuding with her sister Kyle and was consistent with her unpredictable behavior, The Daily Beast reports. One time, she appeared drunk in the set claiming she has bronchitis and pneumonia.
Before Richards was arrested for shoplifting on Sunday, Paris and Nicky Hilton's aunt once told Entertainment Online, "I love sobriety. I've always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don't take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home."
Richards was married and divorced twice. She has four children from three different fathers.
