'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers & Cast: 'Insurgent' Star To Play Kid Flash This Season

Season 2 of "The Flash" is drawing near and the show will feature a new hero. Entertainment Weekly reported that "Insurgent" star Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining the show. The Australian actor is said to play the role of Wally West, also known as Kid Flash, the iconic speedster from the DC Comic Universe.

Based on the DC Comics, Wally is the nephew of Iris West, played by Candice Patton on the show. He is also the love interest and the future wife of Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin. Initially, it was reported that Wally will be his uncle's sidekick and will become one of the founding members of Teen Titans. He will later inherit Barry's powers as "The Flash."

According to Variety, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in an earlier interview that they instantly thought that Lonsdale would be perfect for the role of the superhero. He added that they are excited to bring the courageous character to the show.

Lonsdale appeared as Uriah in the second installment of the "Divergent Series: Insurgent." He will be joining Season 2 of "The Flash" as a recurring cast member. He joins previously announced new cast members which include Teddy Sears and Shantel VanSanten who is said to play Barry's love interest, Patty Spivot. Jesse L. Martin will also appear as Joe West and it was revealed that the major villain for Season 2 would be Zoom.

It was recently reported that other characters will also make their debut in the "Arrow" and "The Flash" crossover episodes. It was reported that Casper Crump will play Vandal Savage and Falk Hentschel will debut as Carter Hall/Hawkman.

"The Flash" Season 2 will air on The CW on October 6 at 8 p.m.
