2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Theme Sounds Much Like Frozen's “Let It Go”

Disney's blockbuster film "Frozen" and its theme song "Let It Go" could have made an indelible mark in the hearts of many, young and old alike, as some are simply not letting go of the "fever" that they've created. And the organizers of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics may just be among those who can't get over the "Let It Go" last-song-syndrome.

Internet users in China have expressed anger and disappointment over the similarities they have noted between the theme song popularized by Idina Menzel and with that of "The Snow and Ice Dance," the anthem song supposedly created by Zhao Zhao and sung by Sun Nan and Tan Jing for the major Winter Sports event in 2022.

In an article that came out in the Chinese Magazine, Caijing, the "whole gentle but oh-so-empowering piano thing going on" was the first resemblance that was pointed out. But the comment has since been taken down.

Mashed-up videos of these songs have been uploaded and the comments posted to them on YouTube have likewise highlighted their many similarities. Observers say that the instrumental arrangement, length, tempo and melody are quite identical.

The organizing committee of the Beijing games has not yet replied and given any comment regarding this accusation on copyright infringement being hurled at them, something which China is no stranger at.

Just last month, the movie "The Autobots" which was produced by Xiamen Blue Flame Television Animation, showcased characters that were much like those in Disney Pixar's "Cars." Issues regarding piracy and the imitation of bags, shoes and clothing by Chinese businesses have also been brought up since before.

Some citizens, on the other hand, have defended the winter games' official song and explained that composers, at times, get their inspiration from the works of others and in applying the "golden eight bars," which refers to the highlight of a musical piece.

For now, Beijing still has to deal with a lot of concerns, many of which have to do with human rights violations, severe air pollution, and the insufficiency of real snow.
