As "Castle" comes back for Season 8, fans can expect some major changes on the show. Stana Katic's Kate Beckett has finally decided about her career.
According to TV Line, Beckett was courted to run for Senator in New York and she also passed the NYPD captain's exam. Fans are reportedly eagerly waiting what career she will choose to take.
Meanwhile, new co-showrunner Alexi Hawley revealed at the ABC's Television Critics Association press tour party that they will be introducing Beckett as the new captain in the upcoming season. Terence Paul Winter, one of the showrunners, said that Beckett running for office was something they also considered adding to the plot. He also added that it is not entirely off the table. They reportedly decided for Beckett to be the captain to help Castle (Nathan Fillion) investigate more fun cases.
This reportedly means that now that Beckett is Captain, she and Castle will have more time to work on cases together. Hawley added that the show will always be about their love affair. Beckett being Captain will reportedly also add drama to their relationship and Hawley assured fans that it will be fun.
It was also confirmed that Senator William Bracken, played by Jack Coleman, will be coming back in Season 8 to cause more trouble. According to Design & Trend, showrunners revealed that the character will be appearing in a surprising way.
The show will also be introducing a new series regular with "The Neighbors" star Toks Olagundoye as Hayley Shipton, a security specialist, and "The Walking Dead" star Sunkrish Bala as tech analyst Vikram Singh.
"Castle" Season 8 will be back on Monday, September 21, at 10 p.m.
