The hottest day in LA also happens to be the hottest career achievement for Mariah Carey who rececives her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 5th. The 2,5556th star was uncovered at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue, just right outside the W Hotel. The Pantages Theater canvas trumpeted "A star for a star! Congratulations, Mariah Carey."
Fans of Mariah Carey lined up since early Wednesday morning to greet the song bird before the ceremony officially started around 11:45 A.M. L.A. Reid, the chairman/CEO of Epic Records described his comments as a "love letter to my favorite artist in the world". He was also the first of the several special guests at the ceremony. Furthermore, Lee Daniels, the producer of Empire said that she "never says anything bad about anyone," then he told the fans "Watch her on Empire, guys!"
The president of programming for Black Entertainment Television (BET) Stephen Hill has also paid tribute to noting that he has a "theory that all of her songs are about me" and mentioned Mariah's hits such as "Fantasy," "Heartbreaker" and "Dreamlover." Then the director of nine of her videos, Brett Ratner said, "She is a singular artist who has moved people all over the world. We share a birthday one day apart. I consider her a sister -- so tabloids back off. It's not true."
Carey appeared in the center state dressed in a long, black sleeveless sheath. She was accompanied by her two children, twins Monroe and Moroccan. The singer was crying tears of joy as she thanked her fans and saying, "Oh my God, this is so overwhelming and emotional. You're making me cry. This is a huge honor and a dream come true." Mariah Carey is one of the thousands of Hollywood stars deserving to receive a "star".
