It would come as a surprise to many whenever a professional athlete has an interesting hobby or a "normal" job on the side. For Mackay Cutters' Ben Jones, being a rugby player isn't the only thing he does professionally. He has chosen to take on another but a completely different job as a real estate agent.
Jones tells Daily Mercury that he's been enjoying this new venture, and he has just entered the competitive game of real estate in the Mackay region in Australia. He's looking forward to do well in the industry, and he does it because "it keeps my mind off footy when it needs to be."
Hopes are high that he will do just as brilliantly as he does in the sport of rugby. Before joining his current team mid-season, he was part of the Sydney Roosters and North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League or NRL.
His team is proud of Jones' dual professions. The Mackay Cutters' official Facebook page posted a photo of Jones with the caption, "Ben Jones...gun player...up-and-coming real estate star...Mackay Cutter! #carnthecutters"
According to Sunshine Coast Daily, 25-year-old Jones joined the Cutters last June, taking on a utility position role. He is deemed as a good addition to the team despite the less-than-stellar run they are having in the NRL.
