'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Update: New Trailer Reveals Enhanced Bow, Hunting Knife Skills; Release Date Earlier Than Nov. 10?

The gameplay for the Xbox game "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was presented during the 2015 Microsoft Gamescom press conference. Two clips were showcased featuring Lara Croft in an edgier than ever character, and immersed in a vibrant environment with new weaponry. Crystal Dynamics and Microsoft have lived-up to their promise of bringing forth a larger open-world game in the "Tomb Raider" 2013 sequel.

The first "Rise of the Tomb Raider" video showed the case camp of Croft where gamers could personalize the lead character, Lara Croft, to best fit their play style. The character is also seen traversing and evading detection through a jungle encampment. The second video, on the otherhand, featured a helicopter taking down Croft's truck. Further along, Croft was portrayed climbing rocks and exploring tombs.

Croft will be exploring Siberian Taiga and Syria all throughout this gameplay, Game Spot said. She will race against time in usurping the plans of the ancient underground organization, Order of Trinity.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider," is a less linear gameplay than the predecessor, and will have free reigns regarding Croft's approach on each of the tasks, the developers specified. Gamers could choose between new combat skills and weapons, or stealth towards getting into the enemies' territories. The hunting knife is one of the most used weapons as this allows the lead character to takedown moves secretly. Also, Croft could now enhance her bow's strengths with the use of bottles, Game Rant shared.

A classic feature in the original "Tomb Raider" will also be revived. In "Rise of the Tomb Raider," tombs with grander appeals will become key elements in the narrative, presenting the gamers with challenging puzzles and obstacles.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" is set to be released on November 13th on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, though the official Xbox website is presenting a November 10 release date. It will hit PCs and PlayStation 4 in 2016.
