'Empire' Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Show Creator Confirms Mariah Carey's Appearance

"Empire" may just have bagged one of the most celebrated singers to be their guest. "Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels revealed that Mariah Carey will appear on "Empire" season 2.

According to Cosmopolitan, the co-creator made the announcement during Carey's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. He said, "Watch her on 'Empire', you guys!" and added, "She's coming on Empire!"

Despite Carey not having enough positive acting reviews, the director still thinks that with proper directing, Carey can bloom into a good actress. According to Variety, Daniels described Carey as a strong-willed woman who needs a strong director.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has still declined to comment about Carey's guesting and tells them that currently, there is still no deal in place for the singer to appear on the show.

If ever the deal is sealed, it would be the fourth time that Carey and Daniels will work together. The first time the two worked together was in 2008's "Tennessee." They worked together again for the following year in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire." The last time the two worked together was in 2013 in "The Butler."

Carey's reported appearance on the show will bring her back to Fox after she served as one of the judges in "American Idol" back in 2013. Aside from her possible appearance in the show, she is also set to direct a TV movie for the Hallmark Channel.

As of writing, the Oscar-nominated director didn't elaborate on the role Carey will play but Fox is lready scheduled to present their plans for the show at the Television Critics Association panel on Thursday. Some of the confirmed artists to appear on the show include Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Ne-Yo, Kelly Rowland and Ludacris.

"Empire" Season 2 will premiere on Fox on September 23.
