Gamescom 2015: ‘Attack On Titan’ Game Tie-In Plan Unveiled

Game developer Koei Tecmo on Wednesday announced that it will develop a new anime-themed video game based on "Attack on Titan IP." The reported video game is expected to arrive in PS4, PS3 and in PlayStation Vita. The company has yet to come up with an official name for the video game, but it disclosed that it will be developed by Omega Force, a report from IGN said.

"Having evolved from a manga/anime series to an internationally recognised brand, we were enchanted by the opportunity to create our own take on humanity's last stand against these overwhelmingly powerful beings, the Titans," said Hisashi Koinuma, president of Koei Tecmo Games, as quoted in the aforementioned website.

According to IGN, Omega Force is the team behind various video games such as "Dynasty Warriors," "Dead or Alive: Last Round," and "Hyrule Warriors" on 3DS. Omega Force has hinted that the "Attack on Titan" video game will have its winter release in 2016.

A related report from Gematsu said that Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are planning to launch the video game in North America, Europe and Japan as well.

"I am very happy to reveal we have started developing a new action game based on the phenomenally successful Attack on Titan. Although there is still a long wait until this game is released in 2016, our studios are already pouring all of their passion and excitement into it and we hope to reveal more information soon! In the meantime, prepare for battle! The Titans are coming," Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Kotaku reported that "Attack on Titan" video game will be the first title that will be released in home consoles. Just recently Koei Tecmo reportedly unveiled a new video game tie-in, "Arslan: The Warrior of Legend," which is slated to be released in early 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and digitally for PlayStation 3.
