Apple's Siri Tricks: Voicemail Transcription Service In The Works, To Be Launched in 2016?

On Wednesday, a new speculation has surfaced saying that Apple's digital assistant Siri is getting a major upgrade. Reports say that an improved Siri will soon have the capability to transcribe voicemail or messages aside from the usual task of answering a phone call. Siri's upgraded feature was dubbed by industry commentators as "voicemail transcription service," which is poised for a 2016 launch, a report from Tech Times said.

According to Tech Times, Apple is currently working on the reported voicemail transcription service for Siri. It was earlier reported that Apple employees have actually used Siri's new service called iCloud VoiceMail. The rumored iCloud VoiceMail service works by transcribing a received voicemail into text.

"Apple employees are testing a voicemail service that uses Siri to answer your calls and transcribe voicemail messages. Apple's iCloud service will then send you the text of the transcribed voicemail - meaning you will never need to listen to your voicemails again," unnamed sources said as quoted in the Business Insider website.

Business Insider said that unanswered voice calls will be answered automatically by Siri. Through iCloud Voicemail, an automated feedback will be sent explaining why the call was not answered. Siri will then transcribe the incoming voicemails as Apple will send the captured voice data to the company's servers. After that, Siri will convert the whole audio material into text and have it available in the user's mobile phone.

According to the same website, Apple is focusing on further improvements of Siri. It is worth noting that in Apple's upcoming iOS 9, Siri has been given a lot of upgrades and features. All these features and upgrades will help make Siri more intelligent as it can predict and suggest the next move of the user. The report also stressed that the said iCloud Voicemail will be part of the upgrade.
