Finally, weeks after news spread that One Direction band member Louis Tomlinson is expecting his first child with Briana Jungwirth, the singer publicly confirmed the baby news.
During an appearance in "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, August 4, Tomlinson carefully and tersely acknowledged his impending fatherhood status, reports Billboard. When the show's host, Michael Strahan, congratulated the singer on his new status and asked how Tomlinson was feeling, the One Direction crooner cautiously replied, "Thank you, yeah. Obviously it's a very exciting time, so I'm buzzing. Thank you."
Last month, Us Weekly confirmed the news that Tomlinson is expecting a baby with Los Angeles based stylist Jungwirth. The two met through mutual friends after the 23 year old pop star broke up with longtime love, Eleanor Calder. A source told the magazine that the singer was not expecting the baby news but is reportedly excited about it. The insider added, "He's become very close friends with Briana this year and now they are looking forward to being parents. He's definitely going to be there and be a great dad for their baby."
The magazine also mentioned that Tomlinson and Jungwirth's parents already met during the Fourth of July weekend and got along well, the source noted. The two are reportedly planning to co-parent, given that they are not currently dating. "They aren't a couple and the pregnancy is in the very new [stages]," the insider added. "They just found out."
Meanwhile, the band's manager Simon Cowell also spoke with Tomlinson, advising the singer that he needs to grow up very quickly, states the site HNGN. Cowell shared, "I said to him, 'You man up. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that.' But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I'm here for you.'"
The One Direction band appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" Tuesday to promote their new single "Drag Me Down."
