"Mafia III" was officially announced by 2K. The newest installment to the crime gameplay is well-crafted with vibrant game worlds and rich storytelling. "Mafia III" is at present in process with the Hangar 13 studio, led by "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" creator Haden Blackman, an expert block-buster game developer. The game has been designed to target Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
2K President Christoph Hartmann expressed that "Mafia III" will continue the strong "Mafia" franchise culture of providing a captivating storyline set in a calculated and treacherous world of being an organized crime member. "'Mafia III' captures Hangar 13's mantra of 'every player story is unique' through a cinematic narrative that responds to the player's choice," Hartmann added.
"Mafia III" will feature New Orleans back in its 1968 era, when America experienced its most corrupt, dirtiest years. New Orleans in the gameplay will be depicted as a city filled with filthy activities, and adorned with luxury cars, music and fashion. Amidst this is corruption all throughout the city, made even more tumultuous by the presence of highly-organized crimes. Above all else, Italian mobs are the ones controlling prostitution, drugs and gambling acts in the city, while the corrupt politicians open their pockets for proceeds.
The gameplay will follow Lincoln Clay's story, a war veteran from Vietnam who is going back home from combat, EuroGamer shared. Clay was orphaned as a child, but finds a family with the black mob. The core storyline of the game will then begin with the slaughter of Clay's surrogate parents.
With "Mafia III's" storyline, players will be free to choose how to take on revenge by initially establishing a crime empire and using tools such as deception, stalking, cunning, firepower and overwhelming force.
The "Mafia" franchise has been made popular for its value and depiction of place and time, as well as for bringing compelling stories that feature a life of an individual in an organized crime, GottaMobile said.
Haden Blackman, Hanger 13's creative director and studio head, stated that in the newest "Mafia III" game installment, they will be offering players a surprising new anti-hero character in an iconic city, who is going through hard life that is set in America's most chaotic years.
