Fan Favorite and top in the world rankings Team Secret had their The International 2015 journey cut off by Virtus Pro.
The whole DOTA 2 community witnessed a surprising upset yesterday when Virtus Pro dominated Team Secret in Round 3. The tournament can be witnessed live at the Key Arena as well as can be viewed at home through live streams.
Team Secret had an impressive win against Virtus Pro in the Game One of the Round, when they secured the game in less than 30 minutes. Team Secret had no other choice but to be aggressive during this game because their drafts consisted mainly of early to mid-game strong heroes and not very reliable late gamers. The Russian gamers from Virtus Pro tried to delay the game with a 4-man smoke, but they just couldn't set their line up quite effectively.
For the second game, Team Secret drafted a full skill-type damage line up with Luna as the main carry for Arteezy, but their drafts were countered by a Silencer pick to Illidan. Arteezy has the worst possible game having the Kill/Death/Assist record of 0/4/3. Due to the Silencer pick of VP, Team Secret couldn't deal any burst damage during team fights. Riding the tide, the Russian gamers continued the momentum and played super aggressive, because Arteezy became a heavy deadweight for the team instead of being a carry. What's more surprising is that the supports of VP has more net worth than Arteezy.
The last game between Team Secret and Virtus Pro was the most intense fight in the tournament so far. No one expected Virtus Pro to go toe-to-toe with the top team. It's a do-or-die for both teams.
Team Secret had an explosive start after Zai managed to survive and picked off the aggressive triplane of VP. Illidian went for a solo sneaky Roshan kill with the rushed Shadow Blade, but they got seen by Secret and was forced to abort when Roshan was half HP, tempting Secret to go finish it. It was a decision that prompted ten minutes of continuous inept clashes, as no one was willing to give up the aegis freely. Kills were dealt back and forth until Roshan was back in full health and things settled down, both teams resuming the normal lane farming. But Illidan tried once more with his Shadow Blade to fool Puppey's team and managed to secure the Aegis for G's Storm Spirit. The game was decided by a lot of team fights in and around the Roshan pit. Team Secret was outplayed by Virtus Pro every time they battled for Aegis. The game finally ended in 55 minutes, when Team Secret could no longer hold on and defend their base, even after 20 minutes of being on the defensive.
