Vin Diesel will be playing an 800-year-old immortal who needs to save the world in the upcoming film, "The Last Witch Hunter." In the latest trailer featured in Entertainment Weekly, Diesel will play the role of Kaulder, who is channeling the powers from Wolverine and Buffy as he fights all sorts of black magic that comes from a threat of evil wizards and witches.
Diesel described his character as "the most hardened and deadliest soldier" and it is because of his immortality. For many, immortality may be a gift, but Diesel said that for his character, immortality just prolongs the pain his character has been harboring for so long. It also leaves him in isolation, which his character has to live with.
According to reports, the movie will feature painful flashbacks about Kaulder's wife and child. In addition, it was reported that he will fight the urge to have a good partnership with a claimed "good witch" who will be played by "Game of Thrones" star Rose Leslie.
According to The Wall Street Journal Blog, Kaulder will be fighting the evil threats by traveling back into a dream world in a quest to track down the main source of evil that is menacing the world. Aside from Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood will also be joining Diesel as his sidekick to help him in his mission.
Michael Caine also stars in the movie as the Church's current link to an ancient brotherhood called "Axe and the Cross." In the recent trailer, Caine's character tells Diesel, "Your story has no ending," which could reportedly mean a possible sequel for the movie.
Diesel also apparently revealed plans for the sequel when asked about "Axe and the Cross." The actor replied that it is the title of the sequel that the production wants him to do.
"The Last Witch Hunter" will premiere in theaters on October 23.
