This is not another celebrity scandal like the recent Affleck and nanny dating rumors. Angelina Jolie slaps Brad Pitt in the trailer for the couple's new movie, By The Sea. It is the first time Jolie and Pitt reunites in a movie after Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Jolie and Pitt have long been hinting that the new movie is about a couple whose marriage is on the rocks and they were serious about the movie.
Fans finally got a glimpse of the much anticipated movie. The trailer ran for a total of 1 minute and fifteen seconds and it revealed nothing else but unhappiness of two people who loathe one another. The couple were clearly disconnected. As Roland (Pitt) tries to go on his merry ways, Vanessa (Jolie) was often seen sulking and crying after arriving at a seaside resort in 1970s France. There was an exchange of words towards the end of the trailer but it's not pretty and it all ends with Jolie giving pit what seems to be a really hard slap. Ouch!
Other than the emotionally-stirring scenes, the trailer did not really reveal anything about what the movie was going to be about, leaving the fans feeling even more excited to see the film. Jolie, who wrote and directed the movie, explained that they had to "pull from their personal lives" to accomplish the tension between the characters.
"I'd be directing myself and him in a scene where we're having a fight, and I'd be pulling out the parts [of him] that have an aggression toward me or when you're frustrated with each other-it was very heavy," Jolie recently told DGA during an interview.
She also said, "We kept joking that all of the crew felt like they were living in a house where the parents were fighting and you don't know where to stand or where to look."
As a director, the hard slap on Brad Pitt's face could have been Angelina Jolie's idea after all.
