'Ghostbusters' 2016 Reboot Cast: Bill Murray Comes Back In A Possible New Role

After giving an earlier statement about his hesitation in appearing in a reboot, Bill Murray will reportedly appear after all in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot next year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murray expressed his thoughts on a third "Ghostbusters" film earlier this year since "Ghostbusters II" was not well-received.

As of writing, there are still no updates on the role Murray will play in the reboot, but various speculations reveal that the actor may not be reprising his role as Dr. Venkman. AV Club reported that "Ghostbusters" alum Dan Aykroyd tweeted about filming a scene for the "Ghostbusters" reboot last month.

According to the report, the actor will not reprise his role in the original film but would rather appear in a cameo role as a cab driver. With that, the site speculated that Murray will also be playing a cameo role in the upcoming film.

However, Birth Movies Death revealed that Murray's character in the movie is named Martin Heis. According to the site, Heis is a new character in the rebooted universe and he is a professional supernatural debunker. It was reported that the character will show up and prove that the new ghostbusters are fakes. However, there is reportedly still a possibility that Murray will not be accepting the role as it was said that the actor has contributed in making some small changes in the film's script.

Director Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot features an all-girl group, which includes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. It was earlier reported that "Thor" and "Avengers" star Chris Hemsworth will play their "sexy" receptionist in the film. There are also reports that Ozzy Osbourne will also appear in the film. However, Feig still hasn't commented on the issue.

"Ghostbusters" is set to be released on July 22, 2016.
