The sci-fi Netflix show "Sense 8" has been renewed for Season 2. According to Entertainment Weekly, the streaming service announced the good news to its fans via a special video message posted on their Twitter and Facebook accounts. The caption of the video says, "Birthdays are just the beginning."
In the video, the show's stars Aml Ameen, Jamie Clayton, and Doona Bae sing their rendition of the song "Happy Birthday," and Bae said, "We are coming back." The announcement is made after the show's panel event at the Television Critics Association 2015, where executive producer J. Michael Straczynski revealed that the show is still awaiting confirmation for a renewal. He added that he is hoping that the show will be back for Season 2 and said that it is ultimately dependent on Netflix.
According to Coming Soon, Season 2 of "Sense 8" will also feature more episodes. The show was developed by Andy and Lana Wachowski, who were known for their works in "The Matrix" and "Jupiter Ascending."
The series follows the story of eight individuals called the "sensates." They are of the same age and share the same birthday, which is August 8. These individuals who are reportedly from around the globe discover that they are mentally linked together. They need to work together to fight and survive against the people who believe that they are a global threat.
"Sense 8" cast also includes Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai and Max Riemelt. It also stars Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Terrence Mann, Freema Agyeman, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra, Adam Shapiro, Ness Bautista and Joe Pantoliano.
As of writing, there is still no confirmation on the release date of Season 2, but all episodes of Season 1 are still available for streaming on Netflix around the globe. The streaming service reportedly seems to be focusing on developing more interesting stories in its original content series like "Daredevil," "House of Cards," and "Orange is the New Black."
