‘Furious 7’ Director James Wan To Produce the Upcoming ‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot

After almost eight years of the last "Mortal Kombat" movie and the movie that introduced us from multi-skilled fighting characters like Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Scorpion, "Mortal Kombat" will now do a reboot. It is said that "Saw" and "Conjuring" director James Wan is going to produce the upcoming reboot of the "Mortal Kombat" movie by New Line and Broken Road according to TB.

Wan will be working with "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" writer Oren Uziel and "The Expendables" writer Dave Callaham.

Wan is known to direct intense, disturbing horror films and also, action-pumping, stunt-defying movies as seen in "Furious 7." Wan would be a superb choice to produce the upcoming "Mortal Kombat" reboot as he is also known for his clear directorial style, unforeseen plots, and unusual editing techniques.

Wan's definitive works were known in horror movies such as his debut film "Saw" and its succeeding sequels, "Saw II," "Saw IV," "Saw V," "Saw VI," and "Saw 3D: The Final Chapter." Apart from the "Saw" sequels, he was also known for another horror movies like "Insidious," "The Conjuring", and "The Conjuring 2."

He also directed "Furious 7," the seventh installment of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise which made a raking box-office hit of $1.5 billion worldwide.

"Mortal Kombat" has its first movie release in 1995 after the video game popularity and was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. The fantasy game was developed in 1992 known for its action-adventure, bloody fights sequence, and character-swapping modes.
