Now that "Castle" Season 8 is nearing our TV screens, the series' fans have one thing to ask the show's bosses: Will Hayley Shipton com in the way betweek Rick and Kate? Good news to all Castle fans out there, the show runners are answering your question, and the answer is a big NO!
They respond to the issue saying: "For us, her character was never meant to be competition. "She's a strong, powerful, beautiful, independent woman, and she adds a flavor of that into the show, but is not - in any way, shape or form - competition for Beckett."
Hayley has been portrayed as a free spirited and witty security specialist. She used to be a Los Angeles police officer. She is never afraid to cross lines just to accomplish her job.
As to the third-party issue that scares the Rick-Kate fans, showrunner Terrence Paul Winter says that Hayley has a very different perspective on how she attacks cases, and this will bring a fun tension to the whole team.
"Castle" showrunner also said that Rick and Kate run the show through their love affair. He says "The show has always been and will always be about their love affair."
However, it was also said they intend to add some drama and spark to the show. There will be fun, emotions, and romance throughout the series. It will be "everything", that's what they say.
Although there will be slow changes in the Rick and Kate love story, she is taking a big step careerwise. She will be up for a captain spot. This also answers the question of whether she's going into politics or not (it's a no, at least for now).
The show's bosses said that "having Beckett run for office is something we absolutely considered, and it's not like it's off the table".
The crew is still sticking to telling Castle's story through his twisty and fun case investigations. And to make than happen, Beckett should stay in the precinct. Let's all wait and see what the show has in store for us.
"Castle" Season 8 will begin on the 21st of September at 10 pm.
