LA Home of Angelina Jolie’s Hero Louis Zamperini Estimated at $2 Million

The home of American war hero Louis Zamperini, the subject of a 2010 biography written by Laura Hillenbrand and which was adapted into a 2014 motion picture directed by Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, has been listed for sale at exactly $1.9995 million.

As reported by L.A. Curbed, the Hollywood Hills home, which was built in the 1920s and bought by Mr. Zamperini in 1957 after selling movie rights to his life story, measures 3,400 square feet and has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a view of the Los Angeles downtown skyline. According to its listing, it "evokes picturesque cottages of rural England" and features dual master suites with walk-in closets, a terrace and a spacious attic that can be turned into another master suite.

The living room with a high ceiling and a unique fireplace is roomy and filled with light, while the dine-in country kitchen highlights a neighboring, bright breakfast room.

The exterior part of the property is accessorized with roundabout pathways and terraced private grounds with a playhouse. The lot area measures about 15,000 square foot.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Zamperini competed in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin as a distance runner before he served in the United States Air Force during World War II. His bomber crashed into the Pacific and he became a prisoner of war until the Japanese surrendered in 1945.

At the age of 97, Mr. Louis Zamperini passed away. His children are now selling the Hollywood Hills home where he spent his life for nearly 60 years. According to his children, Luke Zamperini and Cynthia Garris, they waited for a year to prepare the house, put it on the market, and arrange for Mr. Zamperini's belongings. For goodness sake, a lot of them are now part of the exhibit of the historical society of Torrance, California, which was Mr. Zamperini's hometown.

The home was listed by Boni Bryant and Joe Reichling of Sotheby's International Realty.
