"Days of Our Lives" Spoilers: Murder Mystery - Serena and Xander's Last Moments in Salem?

"Days" spoilers from Celeb Dirty Laundry reveal that this murder mystery will be taking place in late August. This coincides with reports that Paul Telfer and Melissa Archer, who play Xander and Serena, respectively, will be filming their last scenes for the NBC soap opera.

This also comes in line with reports from She Knows Soaps about new writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith airing their works. In a tweet, co-writer Melissa Salmons revealed that her first script with the new writers will begin airing on Aug. 24 while the new writers' material will be shown starting on Aug. 20.

CDL noted that Telfer and Archer will be leaving the series between Aug. 17 and Aug. 28, which makes it seem like their characters are involved in the upcoming murder mystery. While details about the murder mystery are still unknown, the outlet cited possible theories.

Xander has seen his life spiral downwards after Serena failed to get the job done, which makes revenge as one of the possible theories for this DOOL murder mystery. Serena, however, may also try to kill Xander and sneak out of Salem.

"Days of Our Lives" airs Monday to Friday on NBC.
