"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Rita Ora recently expressed her desire to reprise her role as Mia Grey on "Fifty Shades Darker." In the first movie, Ora did not have a huge part to play as Mia, but the "I Will Never Let You Down" singer said she's looking forward to doing more in the upcoming sequel.
While speaking to Lorraine, Ora said, "I'm a massive fan of the books and my character, Mia Grey, she very much evolves in books two and three slowly but surely. So if they ask me to be in the film, of course I'll be there."
Ora's recent statement suggests that the British singer has not yet been tapped to reprise her role in "Fifty Shades Darker." As of late, Universal Pictures and book author E.L. James have not cast actors to play the roles of Jack Hyde, Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams.
Meanwhile, according to News Everyday, the director for "Fifty Shades Darker" has not yet been confirmed either. "Fifty Shades of Grey" was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. However, she previously confirmed that she will no longer direct the sequel because of the misunderstandings she had with James.
According to Design & Trend, there are a handful of film directors that would be fit to replace Johnson in "Fifty Shades Darker." For instance, actress Angelina Jolie could take the place of Johnson because she already has experiences in directing movies.
Just like Jolie, "50 First Dates" star Drew Barrymore also has experience directing. In 2004, she directed "Choose or Lose Presents: The Best Place to Start." Barrymore also directed the film "Whip It," starring Ellen Page, Sarah Habel and Shannon Eagen.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017. The film will be followed by "Fifty Shades Freed" in 2019.
