"Under the Dome" series is currently making a buzz as it was reported that they are going to extend for another season. The series that is supposed to run for only one season was stretched resulting to having their third season premiered anytime soon (though no specific dates were given yet). As per TV.com, the question regarding the new season came up when the CBS Chairman was asked about the overall performance of CBS' overall summer programming, though she acknowledged that it was a tough summer for the network, she happily informed the media that the network's strategy is working stating:
"We went into summer to have more original programming on air Zoo is the No. 1 scripted show, Dome is the No. 2 scripted show, and Extant is No. 4. ... The shows are still performing. ... and these streams well on Amazon.
She then added: "The dome coming down opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities; you just don't know what will happen when the dome comes down,"
As per Entertainment Weekly, "Under the Dome" Season 3 will be having a huge change. It was said that producers have written the finale to serve as a potential series finale however they did leave at least one element that opens up a new path for a story to flourish and eventually move forward; though nothing specific was reported regarding the series, one thing the fans are certain of is that their favorite series would be back for another season.
Along with "Under the Dome", there's another series that's up for renewal consideration, as it was also announced that "Extant" is going through the same fate as its viewership sharply dropped over the summer's second season. Though no specific announcements were made by CBS, they will soon decide on both shows after their finales.
