Rachel McAdams Talks 'True Detective', 'Southpaw': "Creatively Satisfying"

Rachel McAdams is one of the sought-after actress in her times as she continually deliver outstanding performances over the years. She is also known for meticulously choosing the films in which she would star in and she has worked with well-known directors such as Woody Allen, Terrence Malick , Brian De Palma, and now for her most recent film, she'll be acting for Antoine Fuqua's boxing film "Southpaw" alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. She would be portraying the role of the boxer's wife who meets a devastating fate, throwing her husband's life into a chaotic battle as reported by Stuff.co.nz.

When Indiewire asked McAdams about her role in Southpaw, "The Notebook" actress answered: "It definitely expanded. We got in there and realized just how important her role in the family life was going to be to propel the action in the film. It kind of grew as we rehearsed. But there's so much to jam in; I was thinking 'Southpaw' really seems like three films. I sort of understood along the way that Maureen needs to be in it a hell of a lot longer, or it almost needed to be a little more succinct, unfortunately. But that was the nature of how much there was to cram in - I loved the character but I also knew there was a certain practicality to what needed to be explored."

She was then asked a follow up question regarding "True Detective", a TV series in which she starred in, she then stated: "Really liberating. It was so creatively satisfying that I was kind of on cloud nine when I went home every night. Rather than taking the darkness home with me it all sort of stayed on the playing field. Colin Farrell and I talked about that a lot, that we were just like little kids enjoying the process, and pleasantly surprised that we weren't wallowing in the muck every day."
