The CW’s 'The Flash' Teases First Look of Jay Garrick for Season 2

As if the upcoming Season 2 of The Flash couldn't get any more exciting, The CW, the network that airs two of television's most recent successful superhero series, has just released the first look at Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick. Teddy Sears' previous credits include shows like 'Raising The Bar' and 'Masters of Sex.'

Based on a report by Variety news, the photo features Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, with Jay Garrick in a throwback to the iconic cover of the "The Flash of Two Worlds" in Flash #123. "The Flash of Two Worlds" is widely credited for introducing the concept of the DC Multiverse still popular among comic book fans now. According to show runner Greg Berlanti, who also helms Arrow and CBS' upcoming series Supergirl, the picture is "an actual moment from an early episode this season."

According to a news report by E Online, big fans of the DC Comics series would remember Garrick as the first character to have held the title of The Flash, and is known as such in Earth-Two. The Earth-Two, in both the TV series and comic books, is another universe that is different from the one where Barry Allen is. He arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen of an upcoming threat that he won't be able to solve on his own. Garrick has already been teased in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in the Season 1 Finale of the show.

"The Flash" will explore deeper into Earth-Two in Season 2, as well as will bring in the rogue known as Zoom, subsequent to the last season's downfall of the Reverse Flash.

"Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas," says producer Andrew Kreisberg during the San Diego Comic-Con. "It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn't imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy."

Season 2 of The Flash is coming back to The CW on October 6.
