Geno Smith Out For 6-10 Weeks; 'Sucker Punch' From IK Enemkpali Over $600 Plane Ticket

Geno Smith, New York Jets quarterback, is a suffering from a broken jaw after receiving a "sucker punch" from a fellow NFL player.

A report says that the incident was rooted from a $600 plane ticket. According to espn, IK Enemkpali, a fellow Jet's player, gave Smith a ticket to appear at the reserve linebacker's football camp in Pflugerville, Texas. However, Smith was not able to be present in camp because someone close to Smith died in motorcycle accident just days prior to the football camp.

Due of the said incident, Enemkpali demanded refund from Smith for the alleged $600 plane ticket that he purchased. Smith told Enemkpali that he would reimburse the money but he had not done as of Tuesday morning. Enkempali later on confronted Smith about the money and the confrontation nevertheless ended in a punch and broken jaw.

"It had nothing to do with football. It was something very childish. He got cold-cocked, sucker-punched, whatever you want to call it, in the jaw. He has a broken jaw, fractured jaw. The team knows it. It's something we don't tolerate, something we can't stand. You don't walk up to a man and punch him in the face. You can call him every name in the book and point in his face and do whatever you want, but when you punch a man in the face, that's some serious stuff."

And in Tuesday after, same day the altercation happened, Enemkpali immediately released a statement saying he was sorry for what had happened. In the statement he said that;

"I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans," Enemkpali said. "Geno and I let our frustration get the best of us, but I should have just walked away from the situation. I deeply regret and apologize for my actions. It was never my intention to harm anyone. I appreciate the opportunity I had with the Jets."

And for Smith, he would have to be in the sidelines for at least 6 to 10 weeks after a surgery. And as to coach Bowles, there is no guarantee that Smith will regain his starting post upon his return; and Veteran backup Ryan Fitzpatrick is our starter now, Bowles added.
