'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Spoilers: Stefan, Caroline's Future Teased; Bonnie & Matt To Have A New Love Interests

The upcoming seventh season of "The Vampire Diaries" will focus more on Caroline and Stefan's relationship. A new love interest for Bonnie and Matt will also be introduced.

Series creator Julie Plec recently spoke with TV Line at the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour about the upcoming season.

According to her, the title for the premiere episode, "22, 190 Days" is not exactly that. "You know, I saw that somebody leaked that title, but it's not the whole thing. It's actually something like "Day 20 of 122,190, Give or Take," she said.

When asked what the countdown signifies, Plec explained, "It's counting down to the beautiful inevitability of his reunion with his one true love."

Meanwhile, Plec also revealed how Damon will survive while waiting for Elena. According to her, Damon will rely on alcohol and his good friend Alaric.

"Well, drinking, as always. And now he has Alaric back on the bourbon wagon, because he's also been dealt the sh*t end of life. Bonnie has sort of taken it upon herself to be the uninvited chaperone, which is funny because she and Damon have some much unspoken between them - the guilt, the resentments, the gratitude, there's a list of things they're dealing with," she said.

In other news, Kat Graham, who plays the role of Bonnie, previously pitched a gay storyline for her character. Plec said that it's actually a possibility down the line. However, this season, Bonnie will still be paired up with a man.

Plec also said that Matt will have a love interest this season, but they are still unsure whether or not the character will be good or evil, Deadline reported.

"I don't know if she's nice yet. In this town, they often have two sides to their personalities, so one can never predict if a nice girl will be a nice girl," she said.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will premiere on the CW this October.
