WWE SummerSlam 2015 News & Rumors: Sting Removed from Event Due to His Lack of Star Power? Plus Who Will Replace John Cena If He Doesn't Recover

WWE fans have noticed that Sting has been removed from the SummerSlam 2015, which is happening on the 23rd of August. Looks like there wasn't any space left for even more star power in the lineup.

There are already four top-billing fights in the existing line-up featuring Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker, which WWE's Paul Heyman proclaimed as "bigger than Wrestlemania." There's also the match-up between John Cena and Seth Rollins. Wrestling Inc. says that the reason for Sting's removal might just be simple: Sting wasn't needed anymore to rake in viewers and interest.

Marc Middleton, author of the article, says, "It's likely that WWE decided not to use Sting at SummerSlam because he wasn't needed due to the show already being loaded with stars like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, actor Stephen Amell and others."

However, this opens up the possibility that the WWE star will be the hook for the upcoming Night of the Champions to be held in Texas. Also, if Sting is utilized to promote the said event, a six-man match might happen between him, the Wyatt Family, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.

Meanwhile, after WWE U.S. Champion John Cena suffered a broken nose during his match against WWE Heavyweight Champ Seth Rollins, producers reportedly came up with a back-up plan for the SummerSlam "Winner Take All" event where the victor will get both titles.

Daily DDT reports that Rollins facing Randy Orton is a definite possibility if Cena isn't able to recover in time. Another option is for a Triple Threat match between Rollins, Orton, and Sheamus. A set-up was actually already done for the three-way match during an episode of Raw when Sheamus interfered the match between Orton and Rollins for the Heavyweight Championship title.

Despite Cena still recovering from the severely broken nose, Bleacher Report says he is still going under emergency surgery and will have to miss more WWE RAW. He has accepted Rollins' challenge and is expected to be in fighting form once SummerSlam finally arrives.
